Ready! Set!
The solo started at Brown field, with a quick touch and go while my instructor was
still in the plane. Then I came around for a second landing. This time I stayed
on the ground and taxied back to the end of the runway. I stopped the plane and
booted my instructor out! He fired off a quick picture just in case I didn't make
it back in one piece! :-)

Go!
OK! I'm ready! Here I go, taxiing on to the runway.

First landing! Woohoo! Even though the tower
reported winds at 4 knots, you can see I'm having to dip my wing and apply opposite
rudder to keep the plane aligned with the runway before touchdown.
|
This is a nice shot. Paul caught me in the last
stages of touching down. If you look closely you can see that my nose wheel is still
off the ground.
|
This is probably the second or third touchdown.
(I wish I'd taught Paul how to use the zoom before I booted him out of the plane!)

The rollout. At this point I'm making
sure the plane is on the runway centerline and I'm increasing the throttle to full
for another takeoff.
|
Coming in for another landing! Watching
the ground rushing up at me - playing with the elevator preparing to slow the descent
without stalling.
|
This is my instructor, Paul. He's a great
guy - a little goofy, but a lot of fun. The funny thing about this picture
is I'm not sure whether he meant to take it! heehee! Thanks, Paul!

OK Paul. You can get back on the plane.
...but I want you to behave this time! :-)
|
We encountered a pretty nasty cloud layer over
North Island coming in. You can see it here on the left/center of this picture.
|
Finally! I can fly solo! Woohoo!
